Warranty & Repair
Is there a warranty for my Solus Rod?
Yes! At Solus, we take our work seriously and stand behind it 100%. We want you to fish with confidence, so all our rods have a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original registered owner. We will repair or replace (at our discretion) any product that’s damaged due to faulty workmanship or manufacturing defects for the life of the rod, for no cost! We stress-test every rod blank prior to building, so the rare defect is typically evident before the build. Any that get past us should be evident within the first few uses. Therefore, we will replace at no cost any broken or damaged rod within the initial 180 days of purchase, no questions asked. So fish your new rod as much as you can when you first get it. Stress it. Use it. Love it!
What happens after 180 days?
Your rod is still covered for workmanship or manufacturing defects. However, the likelihood of a defect not showing itself in the first few uses is very slim. But we cannot warranty damage from use and abuse. Trauma such as slamming the rod in the car door, smacking it on a rock, running it into a mangrove tree while switching flies (yes, I did that), or a heavy fly or lure strike, will certainly damage your rod. Even if the initial trauma does not show a visible break or crack, there is definitely a weak spot. You may even get away with fishing it several more times without incident. However, sometime in the future that weak point will get overstressed and snap! You’ll be surprised and maybe think, "I don't know what happened...the rod just broke.” Therefore, after the initial 180-day no-fault period, the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidents, or abuse, and we can't warranty against theft or loss. However, we want to keep you on the water with a Solus in your hand.
Can I get my Solus Rod repaired or replaced after 180 days?
We understand that accidents happen, and we want to keep you on the water with Solus rods. For the original owner, the Limited Lifetime Warranty ensures that, for a nominal fee (generally between $50-$100 depending on the build) we will repair or replace a broken section—at our discretion (our blank tolerances are so strict that the same blank should be able to mix and match components years down the road as long as the blank is still being manufactured). Realize that blank repairs are difficult and will change the rod's action, so we generally replace broken sections. When repairing or replacing, we will do our best to match thread color and design. If a rod blank is no longer being manufactured, we will work out a full rod replacement at a significant discount on a case-by-case basis.
How do I ship back my Solus Rod for repairs?
Our goal is always to get you back on the water as soon as possible. For all repairs or replacements, we ask you to ship back the entire rod (broken and unbroken sections) so we can do a full evaluation and get a repair or replacement in your hands ASAP. For rods within the 180-day no-fault period, we will send a return shipping label. For rods outside the 180 days, it is up to you to cover the cost of shipping to us. Solus will always cover shipping back to you.
